G4 Studio this week, reschedule

Dear group 4

As you are aware, we are in the process of recruiting a new head of school. On Thursday there will be the first round of interviews which I have to attend. This date was set by the university and so nothing I could do to rearrange.

Therefore, tutorials this Thursday 10 March will be from 12-7pm JUST FOR GROUP 4. This shouldn’t make too much of a difference and I expect you all to attend still.

Please can you pass this message on but make sure you do not confuse member from the other tutor groups.

Parti Diagram - Sophie

In the narrative I recieved, the fancier wants to build a new loft that is safer and more secure, so I thought about making the garden a domestic place where the fancier would keep the pigeons and supplies.
I was thinking of creating a painting similar to the precedents, showing different aspects of the design and functions of the garden, from different perspectives. I also thought about using colour to portray the type of person in the narrative.

Idea for parti-diagram- Tulshi Patel

The narrative which I recieved was about 2 guys who were "secret" pigeon dealers...
,to recreate this story into a parti-diagram .....I was thinking of creating a abstract painting reenacting the story : including diffrent moods eg dark and textured for "secret" ,through series of canvas's roughly 5x7" .... maybe also including some aspects of Digbeth into the paintings?

let me know what you guys think :)

Stage 2 tasks

Hello group 4

A few notes for next week:
  1. You will need to implement changes to your work as given from your feedback. You must bring this work again on Thursday for a short re-review.
  2. Produce a conceptual artwork for your parti-diagram. This should define a theme/concept/idea which you are to take forward for stage 2 regarding both a)context b)client from the 500w narrative.
nb: is your artwork a painting, sculpture, graphic, diagram, video, sound recording? Be as abstract and creative as you like. I want to see some really nice work.

3. Begin your site analysis of digbeth. Refer to the topics on the brief – you’ve already had experience of this from D4-1. Produce an A2 sheet of ORIGINAL work to show.

4. Pin up all work before 10am. Bring equipment for a site visit in the afternoon/lunch.

See you then.

13th Dec - Meetup Conclusion

Hi all,

Again, very dissapointed on the number of people that turned up! For those of us who did, well done! We really got a lot done today especially considering the number of people present!

  • We have bought the fabric (white voile) - 39 metres! But we managed to get some discounts ;) and they put some extra metres for us! Thanks to Adam who payed for it all at that moment!
  • We have also cut the fabric to the right dimensions - thanks to Emma, Lorena, Diana, and myself. Overall we have 32 panels to use for the installation! And it is so cool! Because of the layers and its see-through characteristics, we have created 3D views!!
  • We have also 30 wood poles to use with the fabric panels - thanks to the guys ( William, Amith, Imran, I'm sorry if I've missed someone out!)

Few notes:

  • The fabric cost us £58.80. Adam payed for it so all of us need to pay him £3 back! So that is £3 to Adam please.
  • We know some people were busy trying to finish their essays but the meeting today was agreed and scheduled. It is not fair that some of you are not turning up! We have been split into groups but some of us have to do the roles of others!
  • For those who hasn't attended, please make the effort to update yourself as to where and how far we've gone.

And may I just 'personally' add a thank you to those who greeted me a happy birthday today! :)

See you all soon,

Mikaela

pacha kucha

went to the pecha kucha talks tonight....they were great. 9 speakers each with 20 slides / 20secs per slide. informative, inspiring and refreshingly pacey. i spoke to some 3rd years who said that it was hosted at uni every 2 weeks until last year. they are trying to get it back and would benefit from our support in achieving this. i'm not sure when the next one is but thoroughly recommend going to check it out.

10th Dec - Meetup Conclusion

Hi all,

Not many people turned up to the said meet up today, even I wasn't there at the beginning.

A few notes on what we have achieved today:

  • I believe Graeme has made a model! Well done Graeme!
  • The prisms will definitely be made on Monday; the shape / container will be cut from wood and Spurge will be using it to mould the plastic container where the polyester resin etc will be poured and set in.

Please can someone update us about the rest that went on that hasn't been mentioned.

Important: Everyone (group 4) is expected to be at Gosta on Monday 10am sharp. We are running out of time so please do not forget and please turn up! We can only do this as a whole!

Thanks,

Mikaela
